NAPALM DEATH PUNISHMENT IN CAPITALS THE OFFICIALLY ENDORSED DVD
London, England: Snapper Music today confirms the September 24th release of Napalm Death's Punishment in Capitals. The 75-minute concert recorded at ULU London also contains a 45-minute documentary, plus exclusive interviews with the band along with never-before-seen live footage from around the world.
Punishment in Capitals was filmed in one take to capture the urgency that has become Napalm Death's signature. "We're at our best in live situations," says bassist Shane Embry. "The rapport between ourselves and the audience really does fire us up. The more feedback we get from the crowd the better," adds vocalist Barney Greenway."
The April 27, 2002 show served as a perfect canvas for the camera but also benefited S.H.A.C. Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty is an organization rallying for the termination of the Huntingdon Life Science Laboratories experimentation on animals. "I'm so pleased we got the chance to raise a decent amount of money for this organization because the cause is one very close to my heart," says Greenway.
Napalm Death are considered by many one of England's most important metal bands. Formed in 1985, the band have been an integral fixture and contributing factor to the rise in popularity of the "extreme" music scene. The band's outright refusal to compromise principles or dilute their music or political views has often found them under persecution from organizations, but their proclivity for honesty and direct response has led to the long-term respect and loyalty of fans and collegues. "Napalm were total pioneers for their scene. They were one of the forefathers of grindcore and I respect them because it took a lot of balls to create the sound that they did," Daron Malakian/System of a Down.
Napalm Death have released nearly twenty recordings plus numerous seven-inches and contributions to various compilations. The band's latest album, Enemy of the Music Business, was released to worldwide acclaim. The band toured the US shortly after its stateside release.
Punishment in Capitals sees release as the band is near completion of their new album, planned for release in early 2003.
