MOTORHEAD's LEMMY KILMISTER Had Terminal Cancer Diagnosis Two Days Prior To Death By Larry Petro, News Monkey Wednesday, December 30, 2015 @ 6:28 AM
Lemmy's manager, Todd Singerman, has revealed that the iconic vocalist visited the hospital a couple of days after his 70th birthday party which was held at the Whisky A Go Go club in Los Angeles. After performing a series of tests, doctors discovered that he had terminal cancer and it had spread to his brain.
Singerman told Sky News, "Nobody had any idea, we just learned Saturday, two days ago, that he even had cancer and the doctor told him he had between two to six months to live. He goes today as I was making calls to Phil and Mikkey telling them to come on out so they could have a last goodbye while he was still upbeat and everything. He was feeling mighty low... He wasn't expected to die like that..."
Following his birthday party, Singerman continued, "Two days later I could tell he wasn't feeling good so we took him to the hospital, they release him, then after the brain scan they found the cancer in his brain and his neck... The doctor comes with the result a couple of days later and says... it's terminal."
The brain scan was decided on because Lemmy's speech patterns were a little odd and the doctors thought he might have had a minor stroke. The fact that his condition was not caught early on is probably the most surprising aspect of all this as Lemmy had been battling a variety of health-related issues for the past several years.
Todd added, "That caught everyone by surprise. That was the last thing we thought he would ever have. When you think about it he has been to every doctor and hospital around the world and nobody caught that...That comes as a massive shock."
