OVERKILL DEBUTS NEW ALBUM KILLBOX 13
Overkill has marked the next chapter in its lengthy career with a new album entitled Killbox 13, released on Spitfire Records.
Killbox 13 is the 13th full-length studio album in the band's two-decade existence. Like all the recordings in Overkill's impressive catalog, Killbox 13 is an expression of the band's commitment to an uncompromising sound.
"I feel the band has always evolved...slowly, but evolving none the less," said singer Bobby 'Blitz' Ellsworth. "We've always known what we are - a metal band - so what you get is metal records from us. Killbox 13 holds a unique blend of our past and present, a reinvention of sorts, that gives the project a fresh feel."
Killbox 13 was recorded late last year at Gear Recording Studio with producer Colin Richardson.
"A true headbanger at heart, Colin is," Blitz said. "I remember when we used him to mix From the Underground and Below. He walked in, introduced himself, then asked to hear the tracks alone. As I left the control room, I looked back to see him standing on a chair, playing air guitar. I said to DD, "We've either made the biggest mistake of our lives or this is going to be brilliant.' It was the latter."
Overkill celebrated its 20th anniversary last year with a sold-out show at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, N.J., which was captured on CD and DVD in the form of Wrecking Everything – Live.
