Norway's Extol have always been a band that was impossible to pin down to just one extreme. From the beginning, their goal was to combine highly technical skills with aggression and beautiful melodies. They easily crossed over from the deep, gloomy abyss of death and black metal to incorporate the energy of modern hardcore without ever losing their mystical melancholy.
After two critically acclaimed albums, Burial (1998) and Undeceived (2002), the quintet inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Their third full-length release, Synergy, shows them sticking to their unique and complex yet highly melodic style, while also incorporating a more direct thrash approach. The concept behind Synergy, guitarist Christer explains, "Refers to the musical and spiritual unity between each individual in the band, a unity that takes the band higher than what it would have if only one individual made all the music and decisions." This 11 track assault is anything but your usual metal album.
After numerous shows all over Europe, as well as two prior successful tours throughout the North American continent, the band are currently preparing for a full U.S tour this summer that includes an appearance at the renowned Cornerstone Festival. Be prepared to open your mind and experience a whole new world of unbridled, innovative insanity.
