Impact is Imminent is the 19th studio album by Canadian Heavy Metal legends 1ANVIL. I use that term ‘legends’ a bit sarcastically as ANVIL is known more for their determination over the last 5 decades and less for the results of their output.
The 2008 documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil did deliver more eyes and ears on the fledgling group while exposing the truth that a lot of up-and-coming bands face trying to ‘make it.’ The irony of course was that they were already on the way down.
Since the documentary, ANVIL has gone on to release 5 studio albums. Maybe you can name one? Maybe you can’t? One thing is for sure, ANVIL shows no signs of giving up making new music and performing live around the world. If you want to know more about ANVIL, in the immortal words of frontman Steve “Lips” Kudlow, ‘I’d say Google it.’
Highlights include:
-Discussion of the new album Impact is Imminent
-It’s the 1st of two albums written during the lockdowns
-Why ANVIL music is open for interpretation
-Why ‘words’ make the song, not the story
-New material turns off the audience
-Why the anniversary of Metal on Metal is not worth visiting
-Bands living on their past
-What happened when they didn’t play “Metal on Metal” live
-Why he doesn’t write Top 40 songs
-What is a finger-noise riff
-And much, much more
