British Melodic Rock act NITRATE solidified what they wanted to sound like with the release of their third studio album Renegade in 2021. Spearheaded by bassist Nick Hogg since 2015, NITRATE brought in brothers Tom & James Martin, formerly of VEGA, to take the music to that next level on Renegade. It also didn't hurt that The Martins have an ear for production as well.

Joining the trio for Renegade was distinguished AOR vocalist Alexander Strandell of ART NATION and CROWNE. Renegade was ranked among numerous Best Of The Year lists for 2021. On October 13, 2023, NITRATE released their fourth studio album >Feel The Heat through Frontiers Music. The band finds themselves with another Melodic Rock masterpiece that is sure to once again top many Best Of lists in 2023. I know for sure, it will be high on my personal one.

With the release of Feel The Heat, the band debuts two new members, drummer Alex Cooper and guitarist Richard Jacques. NITRATE gets by with a little help from their friends as well. Paul Laine (THE DEFINATS), Leon Robert Winteringham (LWR PROJECT), and Alan Clark (CHANGE OF HEART) contribute to backing vocalist, while hit songwriter Bob Mitchell and Rob Wylde (MIDNIGHT CITY) lend a hand in the writing department.

I had the chance to catch up with Alex Cooper and Nick Hogg to find out more about Feel The Heat and the history of NITRATE. The duo also discusses teasing their songs for about a year, artwork and music video concepts, stories behind the singles, signing with Frontiers Music, issues with pressing vinyl for this release, touring plans, side projects, and much, much more.
