Iced Earth Second Guitarist Ernie Carletti Returns To Delaware To Face Charges In 2003 Rape By Newsferatu, Writer Tuesday, September 19, 2006 @ 9:55 AM
Police in Newark, Delaware, say an Elkton man has been charged in the 2003 abduction and rape of a University of Delaware student.
Police say on May 22nd, 2003, 31-year-old Ernie Carletti, guitarist for the band Iced Earth, allegedly kidnapped a 19-year-old woman at gunpoint in east Newark, drove her to a remote location where he sexually assaulted her.
Lieutenant Thomas LeMin says Carletti was arrested yesterday in Elkton. He is charged with six counts of first-degree rape, one count of first-degree kidnapping, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
LeMin says the charges stem from information police gathered recently.
Carletti waived extradition in Cecil County district court and is being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington on $355,000 bail.
Carletti had recently signed on as Iced Earth's second guitarist.
