"If I had it to do over again, I would have never recorded the album for EMI like we did. We would have given them the demos, especially the third round of demos."

On August 17, 1984, W.A.S.P. released their self-titled debut. The album was an instant success thanks to its catchy Rock anthems, Rock and Roll angst, and eye-catching stage presentation. 40 years later W.A.S.P. founder and frontman, Blackie Lawless, is set to revisit the album that put his wild group on the Heavy Metal map.

On October 26, 2024 W.A.S.P. will kick off the U.S. leg of their Album One Alive World Tour in San Luis Obispo, California. Joining them on the majority of dates will be Thrash Metal mainstays DEATH ANGEL, and Portland, OR newcomers UNTO OTHERS.

W.A.S.P. will play their debut album in its entirety and in chronological order. While Lawless is keeping what he has in store for the live performances close to the hip, he does promise fans "all the fire, all the blood". I had the chance to catch up with Blackie Lawless to find out more about the tour and the life and times of W.A.S.P. circa 1984.

Highlights include:

-Discussion of the Album One Alive World Tour
-Stage show plans
-Which songs on the debut should have been featured more
-Arena-izing older material
-How recent VIP Q & A's brought him closer to fans
-Returning to the U.S. stages after a 10 year hiatus
-Signing with Capitol Records in 1984
-The ups and downs of touring in '84
-The real reason "Animal" was pulled from their debut
-Can audiences still be 'shocked' forty years later?
-Assasination attempts, bomb threats, and death threats
-A collection of debut album demos in the works
-Working on a new studio album
-Recovering from a broken back
-Chances of 40th performances for The Last Command & Inside The Electric Circus
-And much, much more!
